Climate Change adaptation and mitigation, Environmental Conservation and sustainable natural resources’ utilization.
The goal under this theme is ‘Enhanced climate change resilience through improved livelihood systems, rain water harvesting environmental and natural resource management in Wajir County’.
The strategies to achieve this goal include enhancing participation of stakeholders at all levels, climate change information exchange, awareness raising and education on climate change impacts and mitigation measures, increasing involvement of women in environment and natural resource management decision and policy making, improving community and institutional capacity in adaptation and mitigation of climate change resilience and promotion of food and water security among women.
Some of the activities we are implementing to achieve that goal are:
• Conduct training and awareness raising on climate change for all stakeholders;
• Undertake sustained fact-finding, research and assessment on climate change impacts and mitigation strategies;
• Provision of drought-resistant crops.
• Development of an institutional framework for climate change.
• Roundtable discussions with county officials on climate change, water management and rehabilitation, and
• Capacity building for women, youth and other vulnerable groups on climate change.
